Quick Pie Curst to Save your Bum

The store is out of premade Pie crust this holiday? No worries here is a quick one for you!

Let us start this off right. HAPPY THANKSGIVING '22!

The beginning of the week leading up to this day have been crazy!

I had my grandma claiming to be to old to bake this year and my mom was in the hospital. They both wanted pies.

So started the great curst hunt of turkey week 2022..lol No one had any, anywhere.

The panic started to set in and I did not know what to do.... did I mention that the

week lasted a whole year!? lol

Anyways, my mom got released from the hospital and I stopped panicking.

I bake all the time and did not know why I just did not make them from the beginning..

I'm a mess, but this mess made five pies the night before the holiday! SO winning!

Pie Crust to save your Bum

Section 1: Your Ingredients

Lets have some fun! You will need:

  • 1 cup (2 stick) unsalted butter, chilled

  • 4 Tbsp white sugar, or your substitute of choice

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1 1/2 cups unbleached flour

  • 1/2 cup ice water, will not need all of it

Section 2: Directions

  1. I usually add all of the dry ingredients into a large bowl and stir. Nothing to hard so far.

  2. Next we will need to cut the chilled butter into chunks or slices. Add to the dry mix.

  3. Gently kneed the mix with your hands or a mixer until the dough starts to form tiny pea sized chunks.

  4. Only add a tiny bit of water to the mix. You do not want it to wet. Just enough to come together in a ball.

  5. Divide the dough into two sections. Wrap and chill up to two hours. Note: I did a hour for some of them.

  6. Once rechilled, roll out on a lightly floured work service to the size that you need. Then place in pie pan.

  7. Crimp the edge with your fingers or use a fork.. just makes it look a bit fancy.

  8. Fill with your desired filling and bake per your fillings instructions.

Have fun with it! here a just a few of the pies that were made with this crust. Please Let me know what you think!
